This vintage platter is an American antique made by the Edwin M. Knowles China Company.
The backstamp features the company's signature urn logo containing the word "VITREOUS". Below it reads "EDWIN M. KNOWLES / CHINA CO.". The company operated primarily out of Chester and Newell, West Virginia, meaning this platter was manufactured in the United States.
The number sequence "29-2-9" stamped beneath the name is a factory date code.29: Indicates the year of manufacture, 1929.
2 & 9: Represent internal factory codes indicating the month (February) and the specific kiln or production line.
Because this is an authentic 1929 semi-vitreous pottery piece, it requires specific care to prevent damage.
