The apron conceals a large drawer. Its carefully turned baluster base rests on sturdy twisted columns whose regular spirals testify to masterful craftsmanship. These columns are joined by an H-shaped stretcher, itself carved and punctuated by a central finial, lending stability and architectural elegance to the whole. The simple yet refined top highlights the warmth of the walnut, while the drawer front reveals a profusion of decoration that gives the piece a remarkable sculptural presence.
