James Suzuki (Jimi Suzuki, Japanese/American, b. 1932) exhibition poster, printed for his solo show at the University of Kentucky Art Gallery, October 13 – November 10, 1968, where Suzuki was on faculty.
A bold hard-edge offset lithograph composition in deep violet, cobalt blue, magenta, forest green, and yellow, with interlocking biomorphic bands recalling the Op Art and Color Field movements of the late 1960s.
Suzuki studied at the Corcoran School of Art, held a Whitney Opportunity Fellowship, and taught alongside David Hockney at UC Berkeley before joining the University of Kentucky faculty. His paintings are held in the permanent collections of the Oakland Museum, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Toledo Museum of Art, and the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.
Printed on heavy stock, unframed, measuring approximately 20"w x 28"h.
