An exhibition poster designed by Larry Rivers in conjunction with his 1992 exhibition, "Selections: Larry Rivers, 1954–1992, held November 15–December 10, 1992." Hand singed in pencil on the lower right with an an annotation of 130/150. The composition features Rivers’ characteristic linear, sketch-like imagery, combining figural portraiture, architectural elements, and handwritten text, reflecting his distinctive fusion of drawing, painting, and graphic design. The poster exemplifies Rivers’ cross-disciplinary practice and his influence on postwar American art, bridging Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, and figurative traditions. A strong example of artist-designed ephemera, it is both a collectible work on paper and a document of Rivers’ late-career exhibition history. Dimensions: 24"h x 40"w x.75"d (framed). In good vintage condition.
Larry Rivers (1923–2002) was a pioneering American artist whose work bridged Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, and figurative painting. He achieved international recognition for challenging the dominance of pure abstraction in the 1950s by reintroducing imagery, text, and historical references into contemporary art. Rivers’ work was exhibited widely at major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He participated in landmark exhibitions such as Documenta and the Venice Biennale, and his works are held in prominent public collections worldwide. In addition to painting and drawing, Rivers was an accomplished printmaker, sculptor, filmmaker, and jazz musician, cementing his legacy as one of the most influential and versatile figures in postwar American art.
