Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (Japanese, 1839-1882) woodblock print titled “Minamoto no Raiko meets Sakata Kintoki on Ashigara Mountain.” This print is part of the series Yoshitoshi's Courageous Warriors (Yoshitoshi Mushaburui).It depicts the warrior Minamoto no Yorimitsu (Raiko) standing over the legendary figure Sakata Kintoki (Kintaro), who is shown as a long-haired, pot-bellied child.
Tsukioka Yoshitoshi is recognized as the last great master of traditional Japanese woodblock printing (ukiyo-e).

- The image appears to be in excellent condition, with minor discoloration on the edges and a small loss of pigment … moreThe image appears to be in excellent condition, with minor discoloration on the edges and a small loss of pigment in the lower left corner. There appears to be a slight crease in the paper on the left of the standing figure which looks as if it happened during production. The method of framing has the edges exposed which is nice. The frame has some scuffs and scratches and the mat has some particles and marks. I would recommend having a new mat made. less
