An extraordinary post-WWII German ceramic figural rabbit (or hare) teapot, produced in Germany for importer Erphila (Ebeling & Reuss) during the U.S. occupation period, circa 1945–1949.
Measuring 8" tall by 4" wide and 9" deep, this whimsical, highly collectible piece features an clever design where the rabbit’s raised paw forms the pouring spout, its sleek curved back forms the handle, and its head detaches as the fitted lid.
Hand-painted in warm chestnut-brown, tan, and soft black tones with a brilliant high-gloss glaze, the underside is clearly stamped with the official Erphila mark, "MADE IN U.S.-ZONE GERMANY", and incised model number 6701.
A charming statement piece for cottagecore interiors, vintage teapot collectors, or whimsical table settings, it is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations.
