Bernhardt Brand Story:
Among the largest family-run furniture businesses in the nation, Bernhardt Furniture has always concentrated on chief efforts of innovative thinking in its business strategy by remaining ahead of the competition in the industry, adjusting to the requirements of its clients, and persistently exploring fresh business opportunities. When John Mathias founded his modest furniture workshop in 1889, on the foothills of Lenoir, North Carolina, he achieved this by influencing the wealth of skilled woodworkers and local oak trees. The furniture was precisely the type of traditional woodwork one would expect from the times before names like Prouvé and Eames were mentioned in social gatherings. With the One Hundred Twenty Five collection, the concept was to engage trendy international designers at the trade show to consider the old styles and techniques of the furniture company in a way that refrained from feeling stuffy. It was an absolute success. 2014 marked the anniversary of the company’s 125 years of operation; more than one hundred years of pioneer history, presented opportunities, and creating beautiful classics that will continue to live on for centuries.
