Lalique "Épis" crystal and silver-plated table box featuring the celebrated Épis (Wheat) pattern, signed Lalique France. This elegant French crystal table box combines the purity of thick, hand-finished clear crystal with sculptural satin-frosted relief decoration and substantial silver-plated mounts. Designed with a robust hinged lid and weighty silver-plated frame, the box exemplifies the refined craftsmanship and timeless Art Deco-inspired aesthetic that has distinguished Lalique throughout the late twentieth century.

The Épis pattern—French for "ears of wheat"—is among Lalique's most enduring naturalistic designs. Two gracefully sweeping wheat stalks are rendered in high relief across the lid, their alternating frosted and polished surfaces creating remarkable depth as they capture and diffuse light. Wheat has long symbolized abundance, prosperity, fertility, and renewal, themes that René Lalique frequently interpreted through botanical forms of exceptional elegance.

Unlike many lighter decorative crystal boxes, this example is crafted with substantial solid crystal walls and a base, giving it impressive weight and an architectural presence. Equally noteworthy are the heavy-duty silver-plated mounts, whose precision-fitted frame and robust hinges provide both durability and refined visual contrast against the luminous crystal. The quality of the mounts elevates the piece beyond a simple trinket box, making it an elegant decorative object suitable for a coffee table, desk, vanity, or cocktail cabinet.

Produced as Pattern No. 10579, the Épis collection dates from the 1980s–1990s, reflecting Lalique's continued mastery of combining René Lalique's celebrated naturalistic motifs with clean, modern geometric forms. The restrained design allows the exceptional crystal carving to remain the focal point while complementing both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Signed "Lalique France," this sophisticated table box is ideal for storing jewelry, cufflinks, watches, treasured keepsakes, or desk accessories while serving as a sculptural decorative accent in its own right.
