This exceptional set of twelve modernists. 900 Silver Martini Goblets by Silvam, probably crafted in a Latin American workshop circa 1990, represent the finest traditions of mid-century handcrafted silver. Each goblet is individually stamped "HAND MADE SILVAM 900," denoting fabrication in .900 fine silver, a historic silver standard long favored by master silversmiths throughout Mexico and South America. Weighing an impressive 57 troy ounces as a complete service, these substantial goblets possess an unmistakable sense of quality and permanence.

Unlike sterling silver, which contains 92.5% pure silver, .900 silver is composed of 90% pure silver, a difference of only 2.5%. While sterling became the preferred standard in Britain and the United States, .900 silver remained the hallmark of fine handcrafted hollowware across much of Latin America and Continental Europe, prized for its excellent combination of durability, workability, and rich luster. To collectors and connoisseurs, .900 silver is every bit as desirable as sterling when executed with superior craftsmanship.

Each goblet is entirely hand-formed with a dramatic conical bowl rising gracefully from a slender trumpet stem and broad circular foot.
