Early 19th century tall Danish Baroque secretary, crafted in oak. A newer professionally applied black painted finish is distressed throughout, revealing areas of the natural wood and adding depth appropriate to the age of the secretary.
The upper cabinet has a decorative double rounded crown and two inset paneled doors. The original locks and single key currently remain functional, though we generally recommend using the key as a pull due to the inconsistency of old locks. The cabinet opens to reveal two full size shelves and two drawers. Age related separation is visible between some of the planks and along the back.
The fall front opens to create a writing surface supported by two extending arms. The fitted interior includes twelve small drawers and a central locking cubby that opens somewhat stiffly with its key. One of the drawers on the right side has a divided interior. The interior is painted in a contrasting pale blue finish.
A narrow drawer is positioned directly beneath the writing surface, while three large traditional drawers form the lower base. This tall secretary provides substantial storage, a functional writing surface, and strong architectural presence.
Open depth: 36"
