A wonderful, highly collectible 1970s American Bicentennial commemorative platform rocking chair distributed by the historic Krebs, Stengel & Co., Inc. of New York City. This authentic vintage piece retains its original under-seat manufacturer law tag, officially verifying it as part of their famous "Black & Gold" structural frame series (Model 1755R).
Built with a heavy-duty solid hardwood frame, the seating base utilizes commercial-grade sinuous zigzag springs and dense urethane foam padding over a specialized platform rocking mechanism to ensure a smooth, comfortable rocking motion. The frame is finished in a striking ebonized black lacquer highlighted by delicate gold pinstripe accent turnings on the posts and stiles.
The prominent top rolling crest rail showcases a beautiful, exceptionally crisp gold-stenciled American Bald Eagle emblem clutching a heraldic shield, arrows, and an olive branch, flanked by patriotic stars on either end. The rear profile utilizes sturdy, flat horizontal ladder-back slats designed for optimal back support. The chair comes outfitted with a removable, clean, and ultra-plump two-piece crimson red tufted cushion pad set that snaps securely in place over the top turnings, complete with a matching ruffled lower seat apron. A perfect vintage statement piece for a nursery, library, office, or historic Americana-themed space.

The internal hardwood frame and lower rocking platform are entirely stable, completely rock-solid, and rock smoothly with no structural gaps or loose joints. The internal zigzag seat springs remain perfectly taut and hold excellent support with no sagging. The original factory law tag from Krebs, Stengel & Co. remains perfectly intact and well-preserved on the seat underside. The black lacquer and bronze-powder gold stenciling are exceptionally bright and clear, showing only minor, expected light superficial surface scuffs from gentle historical use. The snap-on red cushions are clean, plush, and completely free of stains, tears, or fading. less
