The name Sancai translates literally to "three colors", referring to the traditional lead-based glaze palette seen here: amber/brown, green, and a creamy off-white.
It used "Drip Glaze Effect", The distinct streaks and runs down the figure's robes are characteristic of this technique, created as the glazes melted and mingled during kiln firing.
The figure represents a traditional Chinese court lady.
