An elegant set of two antique American Empire walnut armchairs dating to approximately the mid-19th century.
These handsome chairs feature the bold architectural lines characteristic of the American Empire period, including beautifully sculpted scroll arms, shaped crest rails, and richly figured solid walnut frames. The substantial construction gives them a refined yet comfortable presence suitable for both traditional and transitional interiors.
The chairs have been professionally upholstered in a sophisticated multi-toned striped velvet featuring warm neutrals, soft olive greens, golds, and muted browns. Decorative braid trim outlines both the back and seat upholstery for a finished custom appearance.
Equally at home in a library, study, sitting room, office, or bedroom, these versatile chairs blend beautifully with English Country, Traditional, Federal, and French-inspired interiors.
The walnut has developed a warm patina over many decades, highlighting the natural grain and craftsmanship.
A wonderful decorator pair that combines comfort with authentic antique character. Hers: 38.75”H x 25”W x 23.7”5D
