A piece that sits between a jewelry box and a sculpture. Similar to a hen on nest.

Details

The duck's body is rendered in soft blue-grey glazes; the back plumage shows a dot pattern, the wings fine brushstrokes, and the beak glows in warm antique pink. The oval base is decorated all around with hand-painted leafy tendrils in petrol tone and pink blossoms on a white background. Lid and base close precisely. The interior is white glazed. Underside of the lid: unglazed foot ring with a small oval firing hole — a typical characteristic of Asian export porcelain. On the bottom of the base, is a makers mark plus a small dark spot (visible in photos), not visible when the piece is upright. No chips or cracks.
