This authentic, early 20th-century 5-gallon shoulder jug was produced by the renowned Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. in Red Wing, Minnesota.
Molded as a classic, continuous single-piece dome-top jug, it features highly desirable, distinct collector markings on the front face. It prominently displays a hand-painted cobalt blue capacity script "5" elegantly positioned above the iconic 2-inch "small wing" red stamp. Below the wing is the official, authentic cobalt blue oval manufacturer's stamp reading: "Red Wing Union Stoneware Co., Red Wing, Minn."
The jug is finished in its original, era-appropriate Bristol cream zinc glaze. The unpainted clay bottom reflects the traditional hand-turned manufacturing techniques of the period. A beautiful, functional piece of American farmhouse primitive history perfect for display or rustic decor.
