Hand carved during the early twentieth century, its tall, elegant form is animated by sweeping curves, pierced foliage, scrolling ornament, and a dramatic crest of deeply carved acanthus leaves.
A distinctive two tone finish combines warm gilding with softly bronzed passages, creating depth throughout the carving and emphasizing every contour of the frame. The shaped mirror plate follows the fluid outline of the surrounding woodwork, while the sculpted lower ornament provides a graceful visual balance to the elaborate crest above.
Rococo inspired in spirit, the design possesses the fluidity and decorative confidence so closely associated with Italian craftsmanship. Its slender proportions allow it to bring height, light, and refinement to an entryway, powder room, bedroom, or above a commode or console.
