M.G. Wheeler’s Sight Light apparently enjoyed a variety of hats, and this one has an aluminum pan from an overhead light from the 1930s. And in my humble opinion it’s a successful “fit.”
The rest of the lamp is original and in excellent condition, with a few very minor disturbances to the lacquer.
One's ability to raise or lower the light easily, and to swivel it in any direction, makes this lamp so desirable, not to mention its “space-age” appearance, with which the new addition harmonizes. There are some scratches in the paint of that addition, and the finish on the aluminum is not perfect. Otherwise it looks nearly new, as the photos testify. I don't know how old the lamp is (the cord and plug, which seem to be original, suggest it's not vintage).
The lamp can take a 3-way bulb with a standard base, adding all the more flexibility and utility.
Dimensions: 47 inches high. The shade is about 11 inches in diameter.
