stunning original Victorian stamped Maple & Co fully restored mahogany framed Hillcrest base office chair with hand dyed brown leather upholstery A stunning piece, the frame is solid and beautifully crafted Mahogany, the arms are extremely elegant and the base thick and substantial. The chair has later brass castors, the frame swivel and tilt mechanism is the original and highly collectable Hillcrest with the double tension spring adjuster and oversized nautical looking tension handle. The leather upholstery is thick, hand nail tacked in place and has been hand dyed this lovely cigar brown color. This has been top to bottom restored, the frame washed back then French polished, the leather stripped back then hand dyed this glorious cigar brown, it is ready to go Dimensions Height 93 cm Width 60cm Depth 68cm Seat height 49cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point Maple & Co History Founded by John Maple in the early 19th century. It was later run by John Blundell Maple, 1st Baronet. Maple became one of the prime makers and suppliers of furniture to the aristocracy and royalty in the United Kingdom. One of the houses that was furnished with Maple is York Cottage. In 1889, Maple & Co occupied the block surrounded by Tottenham Court Road, Euston Road, Gower Street and Grafton Street. One of the suppliers that produced bedroom and dining cabinets for Maple was Harris Lebus.
