Signed "Spitz" in the lower right, a decorator's name documented on genuine KPM Berlin plaques, including examples sold at Christie's bearing the impressed factory mark. This piece does not show that impressed mark upon inspection, and is offered as KPM-style rather than attributed to the Berlin factory.

The reverse bears an old ink inscription ("Madonna della Sedia nach Raphael"), a period ink stamp, and an early inventory label: all pointing to a genuine 19th/early 20th century studio piece.
