Originally intended as … Read more This famous Art Deco-style poster, "Le Cravate," was created in the 1930s by French artist Jean Rouillé. Originally intended as advertising art for haberdashery and menswear shops, the idea was to add the name of the haberdasher across the yellow-orange band along the bottom.
Almost a century from its creation, this modernist and contemporary-looking image of a man's suit jacket and tie looks amazingly similar to the dark suit and red tie we all see every day on the news.

This print of the original poster is mounted on a Colorplak, an alternative 'framing' process in which the image is dry-mounted onto Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), then sealed under heat and pressure. It has a beveled edge and a non-glare finish. The heavy, durable result ensures a piece of artwork that will last and last.

The framing was completed by a local gallery in 2005 (see photo of label). the condition is very good pre-owned, with some minor bumps and marks. Again, see photos. The 'dent' shown along the back edge doesn't show on or affect the front of the art. See less
