Presented as a coordinated set of three, each engraving is reversibly mounted in a matching 6-by-9-inch archival double mat with rich brown tones and a narrow neutral reveal. The layered presentation gives the trio a finished, cohesive presence while allowing the warm antique paper, monochrome linework, and French typography to remain the focus. Offered together and unframed.
Dating from 1804–1806, the engravings depict a comparative study of mushroom forms and structures, the flowering Bohemian olive, and a botanical plate illustrating sesame and Incarvillea. Fine intaglio linework, numbered anatomical details, and carefully organized compositions give each plate its own identity while keeping the set visually unified.
The plates were published within the botanical continuation to Buffon’s Histoire naturelle, issued by F. Dufart as part of C. S. Sonnini’s expanded natural-history series. Drawn by Jacques-Eustache de Sève and engraved by Letellier, Delvaux, and Blanchon, they reflect the early nineteenth-century intersection of botanical observation, classification, and specialist printmaking. These versatile antique works pair naturally with botanical art, scientific engravings, maps, and other collected pieces, while remaining flexible enough to suit interiors ranging from traditional and layered to clean and contemporary.

Each engraving is reversibly mounted in a clean, matching 6-by-9-inch archival double mat and is ready for framing. The engraved images, French titles, plate numbers, and artist credits remain crisp and fully legible. Each sheet shows age-related toning and scattered foxing, with more concentrated spotting along the upper left of the sesame and Incarvillea plate and more scattered spotting throughout the mushroom and Bohemian olive plates. The works retain strong visual clarity despite this expected surface aging. less
