Large Vintage Florentine Giltwood Box Chest, Ornate Gold Storage Document Box, Hand Painted Jacob van Ruisdael Dutch Landscape Painting.
The box measures an impressive 17” x 17”, and is styled in the Florentine/Continental European tradition. The lid features a beautiful 15” x 15” framed painting of a romanticized interpretation of a 17th-century masterpiece by Jacob van Ruisdael (Landscape with a Waterfall).
The chest features a base embellished with an elegant foliate relief pattern and a lid frame with relief carved acanthus leaves and classic bead-and-reel detailing. When opened, the box reveals a red velvet-lined interior compartment and a brass hinge with a specialized sliding metal lid-stay support arm.
Condition is very good. The red velvet interior is excellent.
