**MR10 Cantilever Chair – Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Thonet, ca. 1975**
The MR10 is considered one of the most important chair designs of the 20th century – designed in 1927 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the legendary Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart, making it one of the very first cantilever chairs ever. Mies consistently dispensed with rear legs, allowing the curved, flexible tubular steel frame to support the entire structure and aesthetics of the chair – the purest embodiment of his guiding principle, "Less is more."
Offered is a pair (set of two) in the original Thonet version, manufactured around 1975. The frame, made of high-gloss chrome-plated tubular steel, supports the seat and backrest upholstered in original full-grain leather – robust, durable, and with a beautiful, evenly aged patina that reveals the decades-long history of these chairs without compromising their substance.
As an official licensee, Thonet produced the Mies van der Rohe design with the quality that is still valued today – a piece straight from the Bauhaus tradition, equally at home at the dining table, in a home office, or as an accent in a modern interior.
Two original cantilever chairs with a rich history – ready for their new home.
