This is a rare 1891 Durgin Watteau sterling silver pierced long handled olive spoon.
Stamped on the back with the 'D' Durgin hallmark and 'STERLING'.
The spoon is 7 1/2 inches long.
As is true with all 19th century flatware, not monogrammed Watteau is hard to find.
Durgin Watteau is an antique, highly ornate sterling silver flatware pattern introduced in 1891 by the William B. Durgin Co. (later a division of Gorham) and named after the French artist Jean-Antoine Watteau. It's rococo style features deep relief scrolls, embossed floral motifs, and asymmetrical curves. Box 76.
