Produced between 1900 and 1920, it was created as a high-quality, miniature prototype to showcase casting capabilities and heating products to industrial buyers.
The embossed German text on the rectangular base reads on the long front side: “Radiatoren-Verkaufsstelle G.M.B.H.,” translating as Radiator Sales Office, LLC. On the left end it says “Wetzlar,” referring to the historic city in Hesse, Germany where the sales office was based. On the right end, it says “Deutsche” or German. When read fully, the inscription names the “Deutsche Radiatoren-Verkaufsstelle G.M.B.H.,” or German Radiator Sales Office.
The entire unit is made of heavy cast iron, matching the exact material used in full-sized building radiators of the era. The dark, textured surface exhibits localized oxidation as rust, which is standard for untreated iron pieces of this age.
As for the big picture, the piece was distributed by the Deutsche Radiatoren-Verkaufsstelle, a syndicate based in Wetzlar, Germany. Historical archives show that this specific trade syndicate operated extensively during the early 20th century to streamline and unify the German heating market and to cooperatively market and sell their architectural cast-iron radiators across Europe.
