A large shagreen jewelry box by R & Y Augousti. It features an angled, multi-tiered shape. Handcrafted from genuine shagreen (textured stingray skin), in a gray/green colorway, which showcases natural white diamond-shaped "crown" markings across the center panels, and structured with clean bone inlay lines.
The interior is lined in black velvet and features a removable top tray with three divided sections, and below that, a matching compartment with three divided sections. The interior features a brass branded badge. The lid attaches at the back with a pair of brass hinges.
The piece was designed and produced by the Paris-based luxury duo Ria and Yiouri Augousti, highly regarded since the late 20th century for breathing new life into Art Deco materials like shagreen, parchment, and snakeskin.
