This beauty is made in French Louis XV style, heavily dressed down with superb quality bronze mounts all around. Amazing thing it features, which is unique for Japanese Tansu chests, is the collection of ten (10) different size drawers! This master cabinet maker has gone even further to impress and made 10 keys and 10 functioning locks, one for each of the 10 drawers. Curved body is further decorated with Japanese Chinoiserie paintings in shades of red color, large paintings on sides, framed within a bronze mounted "border", in addition to 10 smaller paintings, one on each drawer. Dresser is topped with a beveled white marble (with goldish brown veins), curved to follow the shape of the cabinet. It is larger than usual commodes, hence would work perfectly as a sideboard server / buffet, or even console. It is in very good condition, minor age / use wear for 75+ year old chest (please see photos). Size is large and impressive 56.25" widest point, 20.25" deepest point front to back, and it is 39.25" tall.
