A charming pair of hand-painted Portuguese ceramic candlesticks decorated in a whimsical woodland motif with birds, dog, castle, deer, rabbits, florals, and scrolling vines. Each square base features different scenes, while the stems are adorned with delicate floral decoration and colorful borders in shades of burgundy, olive green, blue, and ochre. The lively, storybook-inspired artwork and traditional faience craftsmanship make these striking accents for a dining table, mantel, or bookshelf.
Hand-painted in Portugal and marked "Real Cerâmica Hand Painted... Made in Portugal" on the underside, these candlesticks date to the late 20th century and beautifully reflect the rich decorative traditions of Portuguese pottery.
