The piece features a vibrant turquoise sky-blue ground filled with intricate hand-placed wire cloud-scroll work (karakusa patterns). The body showcases richly hand-enameled botanical and fauna motifs, including morning glories, a large pink peony bloom, delicate foliage, and a butterfly in flight.
The jar rests on three hand-applied, solid-cast brass cabriole feet with an aged patina and features a matching fitted lid topped with a heavily sculpted, multi-tiered brass floral finial. The piece demonstrates authentic turn-of-the-century Japanese enamel craftsmanship, complete with dark counter-enameling inside the copper/bronze body designed to equalize metal tension during traditional wood- or coal-fired kiln processing.
