A striking and exceptionally vibrant vintage 1970s Japanese porcelain floor vase / umbrella stand executed in the traditional, ornate Imari aesthetic. Brought to the United States mid-century by luxury giftware importer ISCO (International Shipping Company), this substantial piece features a rich coral and iron-red ground embellished with intricate gilt karakusa scrollwork and geometric medallion diaper patterns.
The main focal point of the cylinder features a large, beautifully detailed central cartouche displaying a classic Japanese "Flower Cart" (Goshoguruma) motif. The cartouche is overflowing with a stylized, multi-colored display of chrysanthemums, peonies, and sprawling cherry blossom branches.
Boasting an impressive weight of 12 pounds 12 ounces, this heavy, vitrified porcelain piece is perfectly balanced to hold full-sized walking sticks and umbrellas without tipping. It stands as a highly functional, elegant Chinoiserie hallmark piece that instantly anchors a formal entryway, foyer, or gallery layout.
Provenance & Markings: The base retains its original red and silver metallic foil "ISCO Japan" importer sticker, its factory inventory paper label ("Art No. HA-272"), and a classic stamped blue underglaze "Made in Japan" origin mark.
