Gracefully arranged in two rows of three, the figures embody the elegant Mannerist style introduced to the French court by the renowned Italian artist Francesco Primaticcio (1504–1570). Originally created during the reign of King Francis I, Primaticcio's monumental decorative schemes established the Fontainebleau School, one of the most influential artistic movements of the French Renaissance.
