Art Nouveau vase by Adelbert Niemeyer, Germany, circa 1906. Made by KPM Nymphenburg. Porcelain, white, glazed, with a gold rim. Overglaze decoration in violet with gold. Marked: Model/mold number: 109/20 (impressed), manufacturer's mark (green glaze stamp), very good condition for its age, slight wear to the gold rim.

] He initially studied art from 1884 to 1888 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Hugo Crola, Peter Janssen, and Arthur Kampf, then at a private art school in Munich under Friedrich Fehr, and finally at the Académie Julian in Paris under Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constant. His artistic activity was multifaceted—in addition to painting and graphic arts, Niemeyer was extremely prolific as a designer of furniture, earthenware and porcelain vessels, decorative elements, and architecture.
from 1907, he taught as a professor at the Munich School of Applied Arts (later: State School for Applied Arts). In this capacity, he ultimately held the title of Privy Councillor. Adelbert Niemeyer was a member of the German Artists' Association and, in 1907, co-founded both the German Werkbund and the German Workshops for Arts and Crafts GmbH, in Dresden and Munich. He created numerous designs for the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory, the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory, and for Villeroy & Boch. Also for Richard Merkelbach, Höhr-Grenzhausen, the Schwarzburg Workshops for Porcelain Art, and the State Majolica Manufactory Karlsruhe.
