Luigi Onesto was born in Murano into a glass-making family. At the age of 15 he begins to learn the secrets of glass as an apprentice at Gambaro & Poggi, one of the oldest and most famous glass factories on the island.
In 1978 he established his own glass art studio, the Vetreria Artistica Oball . His elegant vessels, bottles and objects are created by the technique called sommerso which incorporates layers of different colours.
Luigi Onesto is now joined by his sons Fabio and Michele.
