The upper façade is cleverly designed to appear as three individual drawers, yet it actually opens as one full-width drawer fitted with four decorative knobs and accented by finely crafted ivory escutcheons. Beneath, a pair of paneled doors opens to reveal a thoughtfully arranged interior featuring two sliding compartments that extend from either side, providing hidden storage for correspondence, valuables, or personal effects. The lower cabinet retains its original working key, while the upper drawer opens without one.

The rich inlaid veneers display beautiful figuring that has mellowed over more than two centuries, developing the warm patina that only age can impart.
