This 1960s Specialty Woodcraft queen headboard is an eclectic, seldom seen design that turns the maker's sculpted diamond motif into pure silhouette. Four elongated diamonds are carved in relief across the walnut panel, each one tapering upward into a spire that rises past the top edge of the headboard. The effect is graphic and architectural, almost like a skyline in walnut, and it gives the bed a focal point that needs nothing else around it.
As a functional headboard it keeps things simple. The flat walnut panel provides a solid, comfortable backdrop for pillows, the carved diamonds sit above mattress height where they stay visible, and the standard legs attach to a typical queen frame. Because all the drama lives in the upper half, it works equally well in a spare modern bedroom or one layered with other vintage pieces, and it pairs naturally with the matching sculpted diamond case pieces from the same line.
