31" x 32" Monumental Late 19th Century Shipibo-Conibo Anthropomorphic Vessel, Extremely Large and Rare Pottery, Features Geometric Kene Patterns, South America, Excellent Condition.
Kené is a sacred geometric design system created by the Shipibo-Conibo indigenous people of the Peruvian Amazon. Hand-painted or embroidered freehand without measuring tools, these intricate lines represent spiritual energy pathways, the Milky Way, healing visions, and rivers. Often inspired by anaconda scales, each line maps the cosmos and is believed to physically "sing" to heal the wearer.
