This Pairpoint Manufacturing Company tazza or comport was produced in New Bedford, Massachusetts, United States, circa 1915–1930. Constructed of cobalt blue art glass and silver-plated nickel silver (EPNS), it features a hand-blown hollow-foot glass base with a controlled air bubble knop supporting a spun silver-plated dish. The silver mount is stamped Pairpoint, C01474, E.P.N.S., W.M. MOUNTS. The design reflects Art Deco, Edwardian, Post Modern styles.
The mount appears to be original to the glass base and represents Pairpoint's combination of decorative art glass with silver-plated tableware during the early twentieth century. Pairpoint is confirmed by the stamped silverplate marks. EPNS denotes electro-plated nickel silver, while C01474 represents a Pairpoint catalogue or production number. The hollow-foot cobalt glass base with controlled bubble knop is a documented Pairpoint decorative form.
