Japanese blue and white porcelain, specifically crafted in the Ko-Imari (Old Imari) style, likely dating to the Edo period (18th to early 19th century).
The exterior features a beautifully painted, repeating stylized floral vine pattern, or what’s known as the Karakusa (Vine Scroll) Pattern. The specific execution of the scrolls and the central rosette flowers is classic Edo-period Imari underglaze work.
The Foliated / Scalloped Rim and The molded, wavy, exterior adds structural complexity that was highly prized in Japanese tea and banquet culture (kaiseki), designed to look elegant when viewed from above. The glaze has tiny pinholes and iron spots, characteristic of historic Arita wood-fired kilns.
