A solid oak two-tier bar trolley by Henning Kjærnulf, Denmark, 1960s. The upper tier is inset with twelve hand-painted ceramic tiles depicting figural folk and maritime scenes in monochrome — each framed within a circular medallion on a cream ground.
The oak frame is the structural argument. Each corner post rises above the tile plane, terminating in a sculptural finial — a carved upswept form that functions simultaneously as handle and ornament. The apron rail curves inward along its length, giving the profile a concave tension absent from workshop production of lesser ambition.
The waisted leg profile is characteristic of Kjærnulf's vocabulary — drawn from Danish vernacular cabinetmaking but resolved with the formal precision of the mid-century atelier. Brass swivel castors, original to the piece, complete the base.
