This solid oak chair exemplifies the revival of Breton decorative arts in France during the interwar period, when young designers sought to modernize regional furniture by simplifying traditional forms and introducing a more geometric decorative vocabulary.

The backrest is adorned with a carved panel in low relief, whose stylized motif evokes certain pieces from the Seiz Breur movement, and more specifically, some creations by Joseph Savina. While a definitive attribution cannot be made, this aesthetic connection is strong enough to place this piece within this unique artistic world.

The deliberately simple and robust structure highlights the beauty of the oak and the quality of the carving. Its almost architectural design gives it a surprisingly contemporary presence, somewhere between regional furniture and decorative modernism.
