Finely executed etching with drypoint by James Jacques Tissot, depicting an intimate domestic scene rendered with the artist’s characteristic attention to detail, texture, and social nuance. The composition reflects Tissot’s mastery of narrative realism and his refined draftsmanship during the height of his printmaking career in the early 1880s. The delicate drypoint passages enrich the tonal depth and lend softness to the figures and surrounding interior, exemplifying Tissot’s technical precision and sensitivity to light. A strong example of late 19th-century French printmaking by an artist celebrated for his depictions of modern life and elegant society.
