It depicts the fashions of men and women in English high society at that time, highlighting the ridiculousness of the extreme width of women's Georgian-era hoop skirts and of men’s hats and wigs adorned with oversized bows. The setting is St. Jame’s Park in London, with Buckingham House in the background. Boitard’s satirical print was originally published on September 12, 1745. We aren’t quite sure when this hand colored engraver’s print was released, but it appears to be an antique, possibly 100-150+ years old. Protected behind glass in a gilt and black frame with a cream colored hand stenciled matte, this fun & interesting piece is ready to hang. See less
