Dating to the 1950s to 1960s, this impressive 20-inch-long commercial artware masterpiece weighs just over 9 pounds and functions as a commanding architectural statement piece. Rather than being entirely studio-thrown on a pottery wheel, this vessel is a premium piece of commercial industrial artware, formed using a slip-casting method in a production workshop. Highly skilled studio artisans then hand-trimmed the clay seams, manually assembled and luted the prominent double handles, and hand-sprayed the glossy pastel yellow overglaze before firing. The sleek double-handled amphora silhouette is hand-finished with manually attached loop handles and coated in a glossy pastel yellow overglaze that features delicate, intentionally distressed red-brown highlights outlining the rim and handles, with occasional marks over the body. Its grand scale and sculptural profile make it an exceptional fit for Warm Minimalist, Organic Modern, or Hollywood Regency design themes, serving as a striking focal point atop a living room hearth, a dining console, or an executive entryway table. The glossy pastel yellow glaze remains vibrant and smooth, displaying an intact sheen and standard, minimal manufacturing details inherent to mid-century industrial kiln firing. The unglazed bottom footing shows only light, age-appropriate shelf wear from decades of display, verifying its historic vintage integrity. Made during the East Dundee production zenith. The pristine structural condition of the handles and rims, alongside the scarcity of a monumental slip-cast artware intact without fractures. less
