A late 19th century hand painted faience serving dish, having a whimsical shape of two flounders with floral and beehive motifs, with the centre oval tooth pick cup for the hors d’oeuvre offerings. Made by the renowned French designer Emil Gallé in Nancy, France. Signature of the artist and his logo to the base.
Before becoming globally renowned for Art Nouveau cameo glass, Gallé worked extensively with his father designing earthenware at the Saint-Clément and Nancy potteries.
