Set of 2 antique Victorian corner chairs (also frequently referred to as a captain's chair, tub chair, or barrel chair) with a distinctive needlepoint tapestry seat.
Design & Period Details
Era & Style: Show hallmark characteristics of Victorian antique corner chairs, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.
Woodwork: It is crafted from a light to medium tone wood (likely walnut or fruitwood) with a continuously curved semi-circular backrest and arms. The back features elegant, open-work pierced splats with classic scroll and acanthus leaf carvings.
Upholstery: The padded seat is upholstered in a traditional dark wool needlepoint fabric decorated with a hand-stitched central floral bouquet. It is securely fixed to the frame with classic upholstery tacks or nailhead trim along the perimeter.
