This is a beautiful vintage birdeye maple writing table in the manner of Gillows, mid-20th century in date. This gorgeous desk is crafted from beautiful birdseye maple and walnut. The shaped top features a striking inset red leather writing surface that has been hand-tooled and gilded. The table has two drawers in the frieze and stands on turned and carved solid walnut legs. It is finished on all sides so that it can stand freely in the middle of a room. Gillows was an 18th-century English furniture maker who was credited with creating some of the finest mahogany furniture in England.
