A decorative pair of mid-20th-century Italian wall shelves, hand carved in an open Rococo form with curling scrolls, pierced ornament, and deeply modeled acanthus leaves. Their softly aged gilding has mellowed into a warm, layered finish, with darker undertones lending definition to the carving.
Petite but architectural, the shelves are ideally scaled for displaying small porcelain figures, miniature busts, shells, or other collected objects. Hang them on either side of a mirror, painting, doorway, or bedroom window to introduce symmetry without making the room feel overly formal.
