A set of two English Majolica plates in a rustic, aesthetic pattern of leaves on a brown, bark-like ground and showing two butterflies, circa 1850-1880.
This pair is being offered AS IS, both showing issues due to metal plate hangers.
Still displaying beautifully. Ideal for a plate wall.
The leaves are glazed predominately in green with edges tinged in pink and yellow. The scalloped rims are glazed in yellow, the versos show rims with mottled glazing and yellow centers numbered by the glazer.
One plate has a stable crack - the other plate has a rim chip, covered by the hanger.
8.5 inches in diameter x .75 inches high.
Plate hangers are included.
The expected light surface wear in addition to the previously mentioned issues.
