This listing is for a rare antique jeweler’s regulator clock.
This clock was a creation of Bawo & Dotter of New York. Bawo & Dotter was an importer and retailer of high end goods (1870-1914). Their clocks were of very high quality, featuring imported German movements. Many of the cases were designed by Charles Jacques and were built in New York. Bawo & Dotter clocks were sold by high end furniture and home goods retailers throughout the US. Their designs were competitive with companies, such as Herschede.
The clock is signed by Bawo & Dotter on the movement and is marked "Germany” on the porcelain dial. The movement is also stamped “Peerless,” a trademark for Mathias Bauerle. Bauerle was a clockmaker in Germany. His firm produced high quality movements.
The style number appears to match “Regulator No.1367” featured in the Otto Young & Co catalogue.
The clock measures about 64.65 x 24.25 x 10.35 inches
The movement was last serviced in 2018. It ran when recently tested
Please note that any mechanical clock that is moved or shipped might require adjustments upon arrival and thus running and time accuracy are not guaranteed.
Chairish sells clocks solely to be intended for display. The mechanical elements are not guaranteed to be in working order by Chairish
