RARE ANTIQUE.This French Napoleon III Ebonized Bobbin Chair was hand made in the late 19th century. This Wooden bobbin frame is solid ebonized oak with a detachable upholstered seat. This was used as a nursing chair, therefore the chair is low-seated.
It is defined by its sculptural turned elements. Special features are the high back with three spindles and the
two beautiful finials that have survived. All legs, spindles and stretchers are the bobbin design. These features give the piece a strong visual identity and decorative appeal.
The chair is in a good antique condition with a natural patina that highlights its age and character.
The seat frame is strong, easily screwed on or off, and can easily be reupholstered.
It is heavy, very sturdy and ready to be used.
36" high, 14" seat height, 16" seat width.
